 Home for Visually Impaired

Imagine being faced with disability, unable to earn income, without family to aid in providing shelter and sustenance...

That is what each of these residents have experienced.  Without much opportunity, these individuals banded together to survive.  Even within the group, it is still a challenge.  This vulnerable community is often the target for break-ins and theft due to the nature of the home.

The residence houses about 25 residents, 6-10 of whom are blind adults unable to work.  The home is a blessing to the residents because it provides a roof over their heads and modest protection from the elements.  However, the house's physical structure has significant concerns which need to be addressed for safety reasons.  Some walls are caving in, and it needs a new roof.  The building is repairable.

The house has an outdoor bathroom facility which is also in need of repairs. The facilities themselves are in poor condition.

Heart to Serve Missions seeks to provide the necessary improvements to the home's structure to keep it in full operation and to provide better stability for the residents.  In addition, Heart to Serve Missions desires to provide a guardian/caretaker to work on site.

Guardian for the Residents:

Along with the one-time projects for this site, Heart to Serve Missions wishes to adopt this vulnerable community on an ongoing basis to provide a regular guardian/caretaker to oversee operations and assist residents.

The monthly estimation of cost to provide a guardian to this community is $166.00.
