Project 2402: Sando House

Imagine being faced with disability, unable to earn income, without family to aid in providing shelter and sustenance...

That is what John Sando and his wife are experiencing.  Mr. Sando and his wife live in the Cook Spoon Hill Community of Monrovia, Liberia.  They live in a small tin shack that provides very little protection from the elements.  They also have no electricity.

Mr. and Mrs. Sando had five sons.  All five sons were killed in the 2 civil wars that occurred in Liberia from 1989 to 2003. In Liberia, if you do not have family to provide for you in your old age, you may find yourself struggling to provide for yourself.  John has also been struggling with a severe infection on his left ankle for the past 7 years.  He does not have the means to seek medical treatment and is unable to do much work for income due to his medical condition.  Their main food source comes from a small garden that they attend to in their yard.

Heart to Serve Missions seeks to provide a new living structure for Mr. and Mrs. Sando.  In addition, Heart to Serve Missions desires to provide medical treatment for Mr. Sando's ankle and regular food for a year.

Food for the Sando's:

Along with the one-time projects for this site, Heart to Serve Missions wishes to adopt this family on an ongoing basis to provide a regular source of food for at least a year.

The monthly estimation of cost to provide food to this family is $40.00.
